This petition to our new DNR Commissioner Strommen is similar to but differs from the one rejected by former Commissioner Landwehr last year in that it asks that the rules apply to specific waters of the common loon range (not all waters), "to include Minnesota waters identified by the MN DNR as having breeding pairs of loon or waters frequented by loons”.

By statute; “Any person may petition an agency requesting the adoption, amendment, or repeal of any rule. The petition shall be specific as to what action is requested and the need for the action. Upon receiving a petition an agency shall have 60 days in which to make a specific and detailed reply in writing as to its planned disposition of the request and the reasons for its planned disposition of the request."

Please forward this document to friends and organizations that would be willing to write a letter - to the DNR Commissioner - in supportof our Petition.  (The sooner the better.)
